ARM data centre chip designer Ampere has launched the AI Platform Alliance with eight other companies to reduce system complexity and promote better collaboration and openness with better total performance than GPUs.
The initial companies in the AI Platform Alliance include UK chip designer GraphCore, Kalray in France, edge AI chip designer Kinara, chip on a wafer developer Cerebras Systems, Furiosa, Luminous, Neuchips, Rebellions and Sapeon in South Korea. The alliance plans to take on the dominance of GPUs from Nvidia, AMD and Intel in the data centre for AI processing.
Ampere will collaborate with Kinara as part of the recently formed AI Platform Alliance to validate joint AI solutions that provide a better alternative than GPUs in data centre servers and help make AI platforms more open and transparent.
